We aim to prove that "successful charity clothes collection is possible without plastic bags" is not just an idealistic slogan but an easily achievable goal.
Greener Clothes Collection is all about bringing a credible alternative to this activity that protects the environment.
We are a growing group of environmental activist and animal lovers who teamed up with experienced charity collectors. We have watched how plastic bags have been a significant source of pollution around the country as Clothes Collection Companies have refused to use the more viable alternatives and we decided to take action. Now we are calling on every other environmental enthusiast and all of those who are worried about plastic pollution to join us, spread the word and help us to raise awareness.
We going to prove that clothes collecting companies don't need to waste such a tremendous amount of plastic to support charities.
My name is Peter and I have been in the charity collection business for more than a decade. The reason I believe in this project that I’ve already tried plastic bags and various other alternatives for collections over the years.
In 2008, I worked for a small company as a director, collecting for a local charity called Meghan Baker House. In the first year we used only small-sized paper leaflets. People liked it, collection was good, and we were able to generate a good amount of money for our charity partner and grow our company.
After a year, we decided to use plastic bags, like everybody else was doing exept we did not make any profit on it. Collection got slightly better, but bags brought a lot of new problem. We had to rent another unit to store them because they take up much more space than leaflets. They were heavier as well so we had to pay more for distribution. As a result, we did not generate any more money for Meghan Baker House than we did before with simple leaflet and our company slowed down as well.
That was a time we did not really know how harmful what we were doing was but times have changed so our habits have to change as well.
